[ÇØ¿Ü³í¹®]

The purpose of this study was to analyze the high school English curriculum implementation adopting the high school record rating system which divides students' grades into 9 levels by a relative evaluation through English classes and an evaluation.To answer the above question, a survey of 453 high school students and 40 English teachers was performed. The survey was supplemented by the interviews with 3 English teachers. SPSS 14.0 program was used to analyze the data.The results of this study can be summarized as follows:First, the high school record rating system serves the standard which divides the students into 9 levels, so the discrimination is more important than the validation in school exams. Second, English performance assessment is not helpful to reach educational objectives because of its formality. Third, the high school record rating system disturbs to achieve the goals of English curriculum. Forth, regardless of the purpose of English assessment, it has been conducted.In conclusion, the evaluation aim of learning outcome can use a way for improving students' learning, but it is used a tool as a qualification for admission; and the result of evaluation is only divided 9 levels. In this reason, the high school recording system disturbs to reach the English educational objectives in high school.

The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the achievement process¡¯s characteristics of HSGPA(High School Grade Point Average) of whole grades, NAAT (National Academic Achievement Test) of three years, and CSAT(College Scholastic Ability Test) on English. This study carried out the analysis of correlation and regression between HSGPA and CSAT Scores on English in an Academic High School. In addition to qualitative data from HSGPA and CSAT, this study conducted survey by subject students to analyze the role of the affective component. The results show that the achievement of students who have already accumulated learning strategies by or before first year was usually higher than those who don¡¯t. The level of knowledge of lower grade has also determined whether the students could have good achievement or not in their future. According to the analyses from the survey research, the significant variables that made main impacts on the students¡¯ achievement were parents¡¯ SES(Social Economic Status), educational background, teacher¡¯s encouragement, private academic education time, and individual study hours. Among them, parents¡® SES was highly related with students¡¯ CSAT scores, while positive relationship with teachers and stable study hours gave significant influence on HSGPA scores of students. In sum, the HSGPA, based on the results of this paper, had the excellent advantages as the college admission qualifications.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the high school English curriculum implementation adopting the high school record rating system which divides students' grades into 9 levels by a relative evaluation through English classes and an evaluation.To answer the above question, a survey of 453 high school students and 40 English teachers was performed. The survey was supplemented by the interviews with 3 English teachers. SPSS 14.0 program was used to analyze the data.The results of this study can be summarized as follows:First, the high school record rating system serves the standard which divides the students into 9 levels, so the discrimination is more important than the validation in school exams. Second, English performance assessment is not helpful to reach educational objectives because of its formality. Third, the high school record rating system disturbs to achieve the goals of English curriculum. Forth, regardless of the purpose of English assessment, it has been conducted.In conclusion, the evaluation aim of learning outcome can use a way for improving students' learning, but it is used a tool as a qualification for admission; and the result of evaluation is only divided 9 levels. In this reason, the high school recording system disturbs to reach the English educational objectives in high school.

In Korea, two major criteria for student selections are utilized in university admissions systems: the scores of classroom English tests in high school, the scores of English Test in CSAT. Under this situation, this study has attempted to explore the consequences of the scores of English classroom tests in high school on classroom English education and college admissions under the criterion-referenced English Test in CSAT implemented in 2018 school year. For this purpose, this study analyzed the scores of classroom tests and those of the English Test in CSAT from 400 students of a high school. The analysis revealed that the correlation coefficient between the two scores is 0.77. It is expected that this high correlation entails high validity and reliability for the high school grades, which shows the high probability for the English test in CSAT.

The purpose of this study is investigate any differences in English learning motivation and strategies of participants based on their learning focus on high school English GPA(EGPA) and English scores in CSAT(ECSAT). The participants were 362 Korean university freshmen and data was collected by English Learning Motivation Survey and Strategy Inventory for Language Learning at the beginning of the semester. The study indicated that (1) most participants focused ¡®the ECSAT-mainly centered group¡¯. (2) All participants¡¯ English learning motivation and learning strategies placed on an average level. (3) Specifically, the English learning motivation and strategies of the ECSAST group(the ECSAT-mainly centered group and the ECSAT- fully centered group) was higher than the EGPA group(the EGPA-mainly centered group and the EGPA-fully centered group). The finding suggested that the curriculum of College English Courses needed to be designed to narrow the gap of the English learning motivation and learning strategies between two groups and to encourage students to utilize these learning factors as much as possible.

Due to the recent change in the admission system, the importance of high school record has increased. The priority on the assessment is the grade and the comment from teachers. Under these circumstances, the purpose of this study was to find factors that were highly correlated with English grades. To this end, the study was designed to analyze factors that predict the English grade of high school record. This study used Korean Education & Employment Panel data and developed a random forest model. In this prediction model, the grades of 4,740 students in the first semester of the third grade were used. The number of variables were 98 and they were classified into three categories (school education, private education, background). Result of the study showed successful performance in other subjects, aiming at achieving post-graduate degrees and the ability of self-directed learning were presented as most highly relevant. Based on the result of this study, teachers should construct the class and the evaluation tools with consideration of the level of student¡¯s self-study. Students should set a specific goal for final education and make learning strategies according to the feature of evaluation system.

Nowadays English is one of the most important subjects in Korea. As an EFL(English as an foreign language) situation, Korean students have to be learned English as a tool of the assessment. In this situation, most of Korean teachers try to grow their students¡¯ English skills to gain good English scores, and go to the good university. To accomplish this goal, in the English classroom, teachers have to stress the importance of English reading, grammar and vocabulary skills. However, because of the adaptation of the 7th Educational curriculum revision, students need to grow practical English skills and teachers also have to help students to find their carrier more efficient. Recently, the government authority also tries to encourage students¡¯ creativities and stress the importance of practical English skills. However, there are a lot of difficulties to fulfill the need of students and authority. Because of entering universities, students have to prepare their Korean SAT, so there isn¡¯t any enough time to learn productive English skills such as English speaking and writing. In this sense, the purpose of this study is to know the adaptation of the 7th English educational curriculum revision in the high school. How this 7th English educational curriculum revision and English education policies of collage admission can affect high school students¡¯ English learning and evaluation? For example, to prepare the Korean SAT, some students dismiss the importance of their English text books. Instead of using their English text books, most of high school students and teachers use EBS workbooks, because students think that English text books aren¡¯t enough to prepare their Korean SAT, considering of vocabulary, grammar and reading texts etc., on the other hands, students and teachers think that EBS workbooks are made to grow their English reading and grammar skills. Also, government of Korea announced that they will make Korean SAT, considering EBS workbooks¡¯ contents. It means that high school students of Korea must learn EBS workbooks. For the perspective of these reasons, and considering this hypothesis, this study wants to know how the 7th English educational curriculum revision and Education policies of collage admission can affect English classrooms and evaluations. To solve these questions, this study researches students¡¯ grades of their mid-term, final test and external mock test. By identifying the discrepancy between students¡¯ mid-term, final test s¡¯ grade and their mock test, this study wants to know the adaptation of the 7th English educational curriculum revision and Education policies of collage admission in the high school. For example, if they had any discrepancy between their mock tests, mid-term and final test, especially if students scored lower mock test levels, it means that high school students have to try to study other private workbooks, such as EBS workbooks, not their English textbooks, to grow their lacked part of English and prepare Korean SAT, and this changes also lead that their English classes are focused on growing English reading and grammar skills, because the main purpose of these private workbooks are made to prepare students¡¯ Korean SAT. In conclusions, if they had any discrepancy between these two tests grades, it means that English textbooks are not enough to prepare their Korean SAT, because mock tests are based on contents of private workbooks and EBS workbooks, and their mid-term and final test exams are based on their English text books, so throughout these results, this study can identify how the English education policies of college admission can affect English classrooms and teaching. This discrepancy situation also can affect English speaking and writing classes and assessments, because to prepare students¡¯ Korean SAT, teacher should teach English grammar and reading skills intensively, so this study wants to investigate these factors in real high school situations, whether these hardships are happened in real situations. Secondly, in Korea, although the 7th English educational curriculum revision stress the importance of the practical English, such as English speaking and writing, because of the shortage of the time and lack of standards of the assessment and number of assessor, it can be difficult to evaluate students¡¯ English writing and speaking skills, so for the perspective of these reasons, this study also wants to identify in the high school whether English teacher can assess students¡¯ English writing and speaking skills more correct. In this study, participants are 70 high school students and their English abilities are intermediate high. The results of the first research question are like that. First of all, most of participants¡¯ mid-term and final test¡¯s grade is correspondent to their mock test. However, one student, especially ¡°A¡± student who gained the highest mock test scores didn¡¯t gain the highest mid-term and final test scores, and also, the students who gained the highest mid-term and final tests¡¯ grade, didn¡¯t gain the highest mock test scores. Reasons of these results are firstly, to prepare the Korean SAT, ¡°A¡± student dismissed the mid-term and final test, and the case of ¡°B¡± student, contrasts to mid-term and final exam, because of difficulties to prepare the Korean SAT, such as hardships of learning English grammars and vocabularies, ¡°B¡± student didn¡¯t gain the highest mock test grade. Thirdly, the result of the second research question, the results are in the high school, teacher didn¡¯t assess students¡¯ English writing and speaking skills efficiently, because of the shortage of standards and assessors. So in this study, English writing and speaking tests couldn¡¯t separate high group of students and low group of students. This means that English writing and speaking scores are similar, between English high scored students and low scored students. Considering all these results and throughout this study, this study wants to stress the need of learning English more practical and efficient, at the same time, in the high school.

[±¹³» ÇÐÀ§³í¹®]

With the College Scholastic Aptitude Test (CSAT) playing such an important role in the process of their college entrance, students are viewing their knowledge of vocabulary and grammar to be the most essential factor of their English proficiency. There is also widespread recognition concerning the washback effect of CSAT in highschool classrooms of Korea. This study aims to identify highs chool students' perception of the subject of English and English study, to measure the vocabulary and the grammar knowledge of students and to find out the correlation among the test scores of vocabulary and grammatical knowledge and CSAT scores and students' high school grades. To do these, the researcher conducted a survey of students' English study attitudes, processed the test results and grades of students, and used 'SPSS' to analyze the data. With the study results, the researcher found out that students consider the subject of English as very difficult to study, that they regard knowledge of vocabulary to be more important aspect of their English competence than their understanding of English grammar. Even though they concentrate their time and effort more on studying vocabulary, students think of English grammar as the most challenging part of their English study. There was an obvious case of washback effect CSAT has on students in English classrooms of Korea, as students most expected their classroom activity of English class to be focused on adapting themselves to the types of questions in CSAT. 'SPSS' analysis results show that the level of students' vocabulary has greater correlation with their highschool grades and CSAT scores. So that can lead to the assumption that students' vocabulary contributes to the considerable part of their English proficiency and teachers can help students develop better English competence by The scores of students grammatical knowledge test did not show as strong correlation with other test scores and grades as the scores of vocabulary test did. But they have strong enough correlation not to be ignored, though. In conclusion, it is highly recommended that teachers should present students with lexical items in more communicative context.
