The purpose of this study is to compare the research trends of global citizenship education(GCED), democratic civic education(DCED), and civic education(CIED). For this purpose, it was analysed into abstracts of 403 articles, extracted 3,932 key-words through text mining analysis. The results of the study are as follows. First, GCED emphasized global competence and international understanding centering on cultural diversity. DCED was d iscussed mainly on the problems of national politics, and the unification issues on the democracy. CIED emphasized participation and practice in the national and cultural context. Second, with regard to the changes of orientation, GCED has changed to explore the practical education design. And DCED and CIED have changed to deal with various issues and contents. Based on these results, implications of this study were discussed for civic educations reflected future learner¡¯s diversity and personality.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of global citizenship education which mainly focused on ¡®values, perceptions and attitudes¡¯ at the elementary school level. This study used pre- and post self-evaluation sheets to examine the effects of global citizenship program that was applied into an elementary school English classes for 5 months. Teaching materials, including teaching plans were developed based on the current elementary school textbook. Queries of the self-evaluation sheet were designed to identify student¡¯s global citizenship demonstrated in English classes. The self-evaluation test results were collected from 116 elementary school students in the experimental group and 120 elementary school students in the control group. The results implied that the global citizenship education could be meaningfully and successfully applied into English classes at the elementary school level. The research data showed that the global citizenship program has positively influenced students¡¯ cognition in terms of their interests in the world peace pursuit and the measures for the relief. The data also presented that students perceived English learning as the necessity of understanding world cultures.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of global citizenship program that had been provided as a CLECSA for creativity to middle school students. Global citizenship program had been administered by the specialists of Hanbart welfare center at Dae Jeon city during the 2nd semester of 2012. Achieving the purpose of study, researchers compare 216 students who had the global citizenship program with 71 student who did not have in terms of ¨ç universal value of human being, ¨èrespect for diversity, ¨é interests in global issues, ¨ê intension of participating in problem solving, ¨ë inclination for globalization. From the analysis of the questionnaires, three important result has been came out. First, female students showed high scores in the area of interests in global issues but low in the area of intension of participating in problem solving. Second, experience of going abroad did not affect the global citizenship, however, the experience of staying foreign countries over one year affected the global citizenship, especially in the area of universal value of human being, respect for diversity, and inclination for globalization. Third, a group of students who had the global citizenship program showed high scores in the area of interests in global issues and intention of participating in problem solving. Based upon the research findings, researchers suggested that CLECSA for creativity should reinforce in terms of quantity and quality and develop the diverse programs for multicultural education on the basis of global education.

The purpose of this study is to develop the program model for the democratic civic education which is taught in kindergarten. A democratic citizen can be defined as someone who works for the prosperity of the human society and the national society, internalizes public awareness as a citizen when improving the quality of life of the individual, and respects the basic principles of democracy in a society that is changing every second. A democratic civic society forms when a person with the qualities mentioned above aims for the common good by achieving a mutual agreement on various problems of society through rational thoughts based on reasoning. Also, the development of a society depends on the abilities of the citizens, so democratic civic education is an important subject that must be taught as long as the human society exists. This study bases on the standards above, and the research subjects were established as follows. [Subject 1] The standard of the contents of democratic civic education was established. The standards of a democratic citizen were presented as the following five qualities by synthesizing the awareness of democratic citizens asserted by domestic and foreign scholars in regards to democratic civic education. ¨ç Awareness of basic rights ¨è Internalization of the awareness of order and basic living habits ¨é The proficiency of knowledge¤ýfunction of democratic procedures and the will to participate ¨ê The establishment of economic order and solution of social problems ¨ë Understanding of the internal¤ýexternal mutual relations between the citizens, the nation, and the world. This study set these five qualities as the standards of democratic civic education and executed subject 2 by establishing these qualities as the objective of democratic civic education. [Subject 2] The program model for democratic civic education of kindergarten students was developed. The program model for democratic civic education was developed by basing curriculum model for democratic civic education on which was modified Michaelis' 'definition of social studies' model referred from the analyzed data of the sixth kindergarten education curriculum and the democratic civic education in the transition process of Korea's kindergarten education and the characteristics of the development of childhood and the contents of democratic civic education. [Subject 3] The solution for the embodiment of the democratic civic education for kindergarten students was suggested. The solution of this study was suggested under the assumption that by applying the program model for democratic civic education, the present kindergarten will teach democratic civic education more systematically and qualitatively. When these types of studies are found efficient, democratic civic education will be more systematic and the education can be enhanced to consider its connection with elementary schools.

[ÇØ¿Ü³í¹®]

The main purpose of this article is to examine global citizenship education from the horizon of democratic citizenship education. In particular, I offer the view that the global citizenship education can only be recognized as the democratic one when it is conducted with the consideration of human rights and sovereignty as well as publicity and intimacy. This means that such education needs to take into consideration of a certain type of crises and sufferings. In other words, global citizenship education needs to accommodate those who are unable to exercise popular sovereignty and global citizenship(1). The currrent pandemic situation makes us realize that global citizenship education is inseparable from the idea of democracy(2). I delve into J. Habermas¡¯s work in order to formulate an adequate framework for world citizenship as a sovereignty based on the mutual constraints of human rights and sovereignty(3). Lastly, I analyze the current educational situations and offer some directions for citizenship education(4), and I suggest the value of human love as intimacy as the methodological framework(5).

The purpose of this study was to explore the implications of Singaporean citizenship education for citizenship education of Moral & Ethics Education. To this end, the recently revised 2021 Characters & Citizenship Education Secondary curriculum document was set as an analysis target. Based on the framework, goals, and contents of Singapore's Character and Citizenship Education shown in the curriculum, we looked at the characteristics and strengths of Singapore's citizenship education. As a result, Singapore's citizenship education was able to extract three implications for Moral & Ethics education.
