The purpose of this study is to analysis the reality of fire officials' negligent accident and find a way to prevent fire officials' negligent accident. As the need for safety of nation has been increased, the demands and levels of fire administration service has also been risen year after year. Following rising trend, the negligent accident of fire officials who always lie in the center of disaster and accident considerably has tendency of increase in types and frequency. But it is relatively inadequate that the study of fire officials' negligent accident which also has increasing tendency like the growth of demand of fire administration service. In this conditions, It would be very meaningful to precisely analysis fire officials' negligent accident and propose for the way of the prevention.This paper looks into existing theory and preceding research of negligent accident about fire officials. Based on this, this paper aims to analysis main aspects of fire officials' negligent accident by organization, equipment, education sides each and tries to suggest preventions of negligent accident according to each sides.

The purpose of this study is to review issues on a treatment and welfare for fire and police recruit and to recognize the necessity of its improvement.We reviewed the several codes related to the school infirmary and the number of ex-trainees who was expelled from the school due to a serious injuries during the training period in the school. To confirm the overall policy and atmosphere for the injured trainees in the school, had we an in-depth interview with current trainees and alumni using a snowball sampling. Finally we compared the codes and regulations of local public officials and national public officials in terms of recruitment procedure and the following benefits with the fire fighter and policeman. 17) The result indicated that the most common injuries was the fractures which required a rapid orthopedics treatment. However, the current condition of the school infirmary was not able to give a proper treatment because there was only a nurse without a doctor. Also, the training period was longer than other public officials without main benefits of four major public insurance. According to the calculation, the estimated personal loss compared to other public officials is upto 66,500won per month when the policeman retired It means that a amount of over 100,000,000,000 won has not unpaid by the government to the public officials in the area of public safety.As for a fundamental alternative, we pointed out that an additional budget as much as the supplement plan of the policeman and a cognition for security assurance of public officials in the area of public safety are required to be considered by the government. Detailed arguments and policy implications will be discussed in the context.

The purpose of this study is to investigate work related diseases in Korean firefighters and to prepare the preventive measure for health management for the firefighters. Structured self-reported questionnaire was distributed to the firefighters. The result revealed that 37.7% of fire fighters had chronic diseases and 12.3% had chronic low back pains. The affected parts included lumbar region(41.5%), shoulder(33.0%), and neck(23.6%). The affected parts caused physical pain and work discomfort for more than a month. A total of 54.1% firefighters visited to the hospital within a year. This results suggest that it is necessary to develop the health promotion program for the prevention of musculoskeletal disease and regular health checkup for the acute disorders caused by workload.

The purpose of this study is to identify the determinants of the happiness of fire fighters and suggest management prescriptions. It referred to preceding researches and categorized happiness into subjective well-being, psychological well-being, and overall happiness. It also referred to many preceding researches about the determinants for happiness and selected 43 independent variables. As a result, it found that positive personality, occupation satisfaction, work stress, physical health, the recognition of social safety net, work-family compatibility, easiness of promotion, work satisfaction, and the frequency of cultural activities had statistically significant influence on happiness, and then suggested several management prescriptions such as behavior therapy, stress management program, the installment of a healing complex, the inclusion of exercise hours into daily work schedule, the enlargement and strengthening of the mutual aids of firefighters, the scientific analysis of workloads and the rationalization of manpower disposition, and the arrangement of professional career paths for female managing staffs.

Occupational hazards of firefighting and rescue works include frequent exposure to emergencies and life-threatening situations. These stressful work conditions of being constantly under pressure and exposed to potentially traumatic events put them at higher risk of developing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), compared to the general population. PTSD is a potentially debilitating mental disorder, due to persistent intrusive thoughts, negative alterations of mood and cognition, hypervigilance, avoidance of similar situations and reminders, and re-experiences of the traumatic event. Previous studies have shown a relatively high prevalence of PTSD among firefighters, indicating the need for a systematic approach of early detection and prevention. Therefore, a critical review of the current literature on PTSD in firefighters would provide valuable insights into developing effective prevention and intervention programs. Literature indicated that there are risk factors of PTSD in firefighters, such as pre-existing depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, occupational stress, physical symptoms, and binge drinking, whereas social support and adequate rewards are protective factors. Although there are differences in the prevalence of PTSD across studies, partly due to various assessment tools utilized, different sample sizes, and sample characteristics, over one tenth of the firefighters were estimated to have PTSD. The current review warrants further investigations to precisely assess PTSD and co-morbid mental disorders, functional outcomes, and associated factors, and to develop evidence-based preventive and interventional programs to help firefighters with PTSD.
