The purpose of this study is
to analyze the research trends of in-service teacher educationin Korea and to suggest future research agendas. For this purpose, I collected 200 academicarticles which are published up until 2013. All 200 articles were systematically reviewed andclassified according to analytical criteria such as in-service education types, research theme,research method, and subject matter areas. Major findings of this study can be summarizedas follows: First, the number of research articles on in-service teacher education is growingsince mid-2000. Second, in terms of in-service education types, researches on institution-basedin-service teacher education outnumber those of school-based or individual-based in-serviceteacher education. Third, quantitative methods and literature review are two main researchmethods used in the in-service teacher education research. Finally, research themes weremainly focused on the reform of in-service teacher education system (more than 60% of 200articles). There are not many research articles which show detailed descriptions on thepractice of in-service teacher education. Based on these finds, I suggested four futureresearch agendas: First, making a clear definition and setting the scope of in-service teachereducation, second, increasing school-based in-service teacher education research, third,defining the effects of in-service teacher education and expanding related research, and last,developing and adopting different research perspectives and methods for in-service teachereducation.   (ÀÌÇÏ »ý·«)
