박물관 자료의 수집방법으로서는 구입?기증?기탁?발굴?교
환?대여 등이 있다. 그 중에서도 문화재의 기탁은 박물관 종사자들에 의해 효과적인 방법으로 언급되고 있지만, 아직까지 개인소장 문화재의 기탁은 활발히 이루어지지 않고 있다. 이는 문화재 기탁 제도에 대한 일반 국민들의저조한 인식과 박물관 종사자들의 소극적인 수집 정책에 기인한다.그러나 박물관 소장품의 다양화와 수집 정책의 활성화를 위해서는 문화재 기탁 제도를 적극적으로 활용할 필요가 있다. 기탁은 문화재의 소유권 이전 없이, 문화재의 보존관리와 연구?활용을위하여 박물관이 관리권?이용권을 갖는 것이다. 이러한 문화재 기탁 제도는 박물관의 측면에서는문화재 구입 및 기증의 한계를 보완할 수 있으며, 개인 소장가의 측면에서는 문화재 보존?관리의부담을 완화할 수 있고, 일반 국민의 측면에서는 문화재 향유권을 제고할 수 있다는 의의를 갖는다.따라서 본고는 문화재 기탁 제도의 의의를 정리하고, 기탁 문화재를 통해 연구?교육?전시 등 다양한 사업을 추진하고 있는 한국국학진흥원의 고서 기탁 및 활용 현황을 살펴봄으로써 박물관에서의 문화재 기탁 제도가 활성화되기 위한 시사점을 도출하고자 한다.

Collecting is its own basic t
ask of museum and the method of collecting includes purchase,donation, entrustment, exchange and loan and borrows. The entrustment of culturalproperty(CP), though some museum professionals advocate the effectiveness of it, has not beenmade full use in Korean museums. It results from the lack of people’s awareness of CPentrustment system and inactive collection policy of museum professionals absorbed incollecting CP through purchase and donation.However, the CP entrustment system needs to be used for the diversity of collections andflexibility of collection policy. Thereby, museum can react quickly and properly to its operatingenvironment which is rapidly changing and complicated.This study aimed at entrustment which means that an original owner has the ownership ofthe CP while museum has the right of management, to use or of possession for the preservation,management, research and utilization of the CP. This system has the importance because it cancompensate the limitation of purchase and donation of CP, reduce the burden of the preservationand management of CP from individuals and enhance the enjoyment right of CP of people.Thus, this study considers the concept and significance of the CP entrustment system. Further,it analyzes the current status of old book entrusted and its utilization of Korean StudiesAdvancement Center which carries out the variety of business including research, education,exhibition, etc. with entrusted CP. Consequently, it suggests some ways to activate the CPentrustment system in museums. (이하 생략)
