This study aimed at examining
whether communication-focused sand play therapy improves mother-childcommunications and interactions, child¡¯s self-efficacy, and mother¡¯s parenting efficacy. This study consisted of a pretest,a 12-session treatment(each session lasting 50 min.), and a posttest. Treatment effects were measured using the PACI(Parent-Adolescent Communication Inventory), K-MBRS (Korean Maternal Behavior Rating Scale), K-CBRS (KoreanChild Behavior Rating Scale), child¡¯s efficacy scale, and parenting efficacy scale. The results are as follows. First,communication- focused sand play therapy improved communications and interactions between mother and child. Atposttest, the experimental group showed a significant improvement in mother-child communications and interactions,while the control group did not show such improvement. Second, communication-focused sand play program improvedchildren¡¯s self-efficacy and mothers¡¯ parenting efficacy. At posttest, the experimental group showed a significantimprovement in child self-efficacy and maternal parenting efficacy, while the control group did not show suchimprovement. This study proved that communication-focused sand play therapy is effective in improving mother-childcommunications and interactions, child self-efficacy, and maternal parenting efficacy. (ÀÌÇÏ »ý·«)
