Memorial Museum have been bui
lt to perform functions of education which delivers memories of communities exemplified by history to the present generation and future generations from the view point of the present time, not to keep them in mind. They assure persistence of generations¡¯ lives in their memories and play the role of media which connects history and generations to each other. These are the reason and meaning that they exist. Their historic education consists of the forms that next generations cannot experience the past can share cultural memories. New memorial museums have been built every year. However, most of them focus on the role which delivers memories to people as exhibition itself rather than operating various education. Therefore, this writing tries to examine the meaning of history education of memorial museums and think of the directions that their history education should move forward to deliver memories in the future through the case of Kim Koo Museum & Library. Kim Koo Museum & Library¡¯s education aims at delivery of invisible spirit or ideas, not focusing on visible objects. It has planned and operated education which connects schools to each other through analyses of educational courses and experience-typed education which utilizes making newspapers and play by starting with exhibition explanation. Unlike school education, it is not easy to find the meaning of existence of viewers themselves through history in general education of the memorial halls done by their volunteer participation which is non-continuous and irregular. Therefore, education of Kim Koo Museum & Library is connected to five subjects which aims at the independence movement(Modern history), Paikbum IlJi (Kim Koo¡¯s life), patriotic spirit, unification(Anti-bias), and cultural education to each other and is composed to understand the phases of the times and people that he actually lived with even though viewers receive education in any place. And it is designed to make them to continue to participate in advanced processes of several stages about one subject repeatedly. Education of memorial museums should suggest how to talk about the past freely in its historic memories, consciousness, and imagination and make people prepare their future. That is, history education of memorial Museum should be responsible for playing the role of delivery of the past¡¯s history and memories to the future from the present for communication among the past, present, and future which exist in time continuity.   (ÀÌÇÏ »ý·«)
