The purpose of this study was
to evaluation the effects of 12 weeks walking exercise program participation on changes ofinsulin resistance and peripheral artery in diabetic patients. Thirty-one overweight women with type 2 diabetes were randomlyassigned to control groups(CG, N=15), walking exercise program groups(WEPG, N=16). Walking exercise program was performed 4times a week at the intensity of 55-60% HRmax(1-4 weeks; 55% HRmax, 5-8 weeks; 60% HRmax, 8-12 weeks; 65% HRmax). Theankle-brachial index (ABI)was used to assess peripheral arterial disease(PAD). The data from this study were analyzed usingrepeated measures two-way ANOVA. The following conclusions were obtained by comparing and analyzing the measurement valuepre and post of walking exercise program. In the change of BMI, HOMA-IR, the walking exercise group was significantlyimproved more than control group and pre exercise data(p¡´.05). But plasma hs-CRP level and ABI showed no significant.Therefore, walking exercise program enough to result in significant weight and fat reduction did not ameliorate inflammation andABI as measured at the end of a 12-week walking exercise intervention. These results suggest that 12 weeks walking exerciseprogram could be helpful to reduce blood glucose by improving insulin resistance in type 2 diabetic patients.   (ÀÌÇÏ »ý·«)
