This study investigated the c
urrent situation of multicultural social work education in terms of the extent to which the multicultural social work course was opened and in which way it was delivered, targeting 4-year universities which have a social work major. The result shows that among 110 universities only 14 have multicultural social work courses and that the content and the teaching method adopted in the class was different across the courses depending on the way the instructors interpreted multiculturalism and which aspects of multiculturalism they put emphasis on. Additionally, instructors, students, and social workers in the multicultural settings provided various suggestions to improve the multicultural social work education. Based on these results, this study suggested 1) changing the status of the multicultural social work courses from nonstatutory to selective, 2) dealing with the content relating to multicultural social work in other courses, such as social work ethics and philosophy, and 3) utilizing basic factors of cultural competence, such as multicultural awareness, knowledge, and skills, as a framework to establish the content and the teaching method for multicultural social work education.   (ÀÌÇÏ »ý·«)
