In recent times, computer-bas
ed simulation games have been highlighted as a means oflearning. Game users are expected to develop their own game strategies, which help themoperate games successfully. Especially, information processing strategies that facilitate users toenhance, manage, and interpret diverse information play important roles in game playing; andcomputer game users frequently undergo flow experiences. With this view, the main goal of thisstudy is to examine the effect of flow and information processing strategies on achievement incomputer-based simulation games. Furthermore, this study identifies the correlations between flowand information processing strategies.As research tools, measurement questionnaires on flow-level, information processing strategiesand information interpreting strategies were developed; each item was designed with 5-pointLikert scales. The participants were the total of 100 undergraduate and graduate students.During an experiment, these students were asked to play a computer simulation game, the RollerCoaster Tycoon for total 30 minutes. The game scores were collected as achievement data. Afterthe game play, the level of flow, information processing strategies and informations interpretingstrategies were measured. Multiple regression and Pearson's correlation were computed for themeasurement questionnaire.The result showed that ¡®flow¡¯ was not the significant predictor in game achievement. However,information interpreting strategies were significant predictors in the achievement. In addition,there were positive and moderate correlation between control(one of the flow indicators) andinformation interpreting strategies in the computer simulation game.The result indicated that higher information interpreting strategies slightly facilitate gameachievement. Although correlation data cannot address causality, it appears that the gameplayers(learners) who are better in ¡®control¡¯ are those who are better in information interpretingstrategies in general.   (ÀÌÇÏ »ý·«)
