The purpose of this study is
to develope a Resource-Based Learning System(RBLS) Prototype, a learning environment integrating Learning Content Management System(LCMS) and Learning Management System(LMS), in order to support resource-based learning. This system is developed to search into learners\' generating learning objects in the process of task performance, realizing retrieval functions using metadata, presenting successful cases of these functions, and inspecting responses on the learning management functions.In this study, several functions of the RBLS prototype have been developed. Learning contentmanagement allows both teacher and learners to enable to generate, store, and deliver learningobject. Products produced performed by learners were used to generate learning objects. Learners can retrieve learning objects by 12 searching engines, which reorganized from KERIS-SCORM metadata scheme. Learning management functions provided with learning process guidelines, question and answer, grade management, and official announcement.In terms of the first tryout results, the second version of the systems was modified. For qualitative approach, questionnaires, participant observation, narrative observation (video recording), and in-depth interview were implemented on process of development and test. To analyze these data, both coding method and the frequency number analysis were used. The results of this study were as follows:First, learners should be regarded as the generators of learning objects in RBLS. They madethe learning resource more abundant with their own learning objects which they generated as they performed tasks. The systems made it easier to share, manage, and modify learning objectsaccording to the individual learners\' differences. Using their records, it is possible to managelearning contents as providing the individual learners with adapted learning process.Second, retrieving learning objects in RBLS should be executed with properly selectingmetadata considering both learners and learning contents. The 9 categories were useful especially in program learning. These were retrieving methods by author, title, task type, subject topic, relative learning chapter, construct of learning object, level of content difficulties, case, result of self-evaluation and peer-evaluation.Third, learning management functions for individuals should be included, besides basic management functions. in the learning management system of RBLS.
