Children with autistic disord
er are characterized by the passive attitude caused by low voluntariness, the lack of emotional interaction and sociality due to a defect in communication, and inappropriate emotional expression. In order to improve this problem, the nondirective art therapy can reduce a sense of resistance in the subject children and is easy for access based on Viktor Lowenfeld\'s art developmental stage. This is the qualitative case study in order to examine the remedial influence and effects of the nondirective art therapy on social behavior and self-expression in a child with autistic disorder. The following are the results of the research of having been carried out based on this objective. First, in the social maturity that the nondirective art therapy measures children\'s development, the while development in research-subject children was enhanced. Second, the non-verbal behavior led to wholly improving speaking, facial expression, gesture, and eye contact. In addition, the verbal behavior led to showing many changes even in diverse demands and ostentation. Third, the more repetition in session led to a rise in voluntary behavior and request in treatment situation or daily life. During the period that the nondirective art therapy was carried out, the research-subject children can be known to have indicated a change in development of picture from the preschematic stage to the realism stage. Given synthesizing this fact, the nondirective art therapy can be known to have wholly positive effect on children\'s growth and development by inducing free self-expression and by reinforcing social behavior in children with autistic disorder who are low in voluntary activity and have difficulty in communication.   (ÀÌÇÏ »ý·«)
