so, ive been home for two day
s now.i had my birthday and am offically old (29 yes, the first time).i enjoyed my time in newfoundland the i get completely shafted professionally.thats okay, i shall rise again and now focus my attentions on preparing for the spring regional conference.apparently, the ontarians got bored having their conference in ontario (what can i say?) and now we at the link get to hold it.our good friends down the street at the daily will be planning it with us of course, and good times will be had by all as hopefully xxx-xxx university student jounalists descend upon montreal to party.
while in newfoundland, i had
the chance to see neil macdonald.a rare treat for me, as the man wont speak in montreal.his reason? either people invite him to talk to validate their thoughts, or they invite him to heckle him, and no one is actually interested in discourse about the mid east here.

y true.i think there are very passionate people in the montreal mid east debate scene.(scene? did i just say *scene* to describe it?) and the mere fact that discordia (an nfb production which will premiere tomorrow focusing on the situation of concordia) was even possible to make does show that things do tend to get intense here about it.however, i am not sure no one is interested in listening.i think the bigger thing is that theyre feeling unheard.
i suppose thats a bit circula
r, in that if most people felt heard theyd listen more, if theyd listen perhaps people would hear them in return.but its sad this city (and note, he said montreal, not concordia) has a reputation for being the site of a screaming match as opposed to an exchange of actual intellectual discourse considering the potential here.
