System identification is the basis for control system design. For linear time-invariant systems have a variety of identification methods, identification methods for nonlinear dynamic system is still in the exploratory stage. Nonlinear identification method based on neural network is a simple and effective general method that does not require too much priori experience about the system to be identified. Through training and learning, the network weights are corrected to achieve the purpose of system identification. The paper is about the identification of multivariable nonlinear dynamic system based on PID neural network. The structure and algorithm of PID neural network are introduced and the properties and characteristics are analyzed. The system identification is completed and the results are fast convergence.

The basic concept of smart environment is to be aware of the context information related to environmental and human behavioral changes, and to provide appropriate services accordingly. To obtain the context information, people often use video cameras, microphones, and other devices. These devices can obtain complex environmental data but they also need powerful equipment for handling the data. In addition, monitoring equipment will generate privacy issues. Users will generate sense of exclusion. In these devices, users generally dislike the graphic and audio monitoring equipment. We mainly collect user activity information through the most simple data quality of sensor. Due to amount of activity of human is difficult to make computers understand by natural language. On the other hand, activity vulnerable to external factors produce different variations. In order to effectively address these issues, we propose an activity to identify architecture based on fuzzy logic. This method using fuzzy logic deal with sensor data and using fuzzy decision trees identification of a user's activities. According to the results of preliminary experiments, the system can identify 85.49% the daily activities.

In this paper we extend the Alternating RGLS (Recursive Generalized Least Square) algorithm proposed for the identification of the reduced complexity Volterra model describing stochastic nonlinear systems corrupted by AR (AutoRegressive) noise to case of systems corrupted by ARMA (AutoRegressive Moving Average) noise. The reduced Volterra model used is the 3rd order PARAFC-Volterra model provided using the PARAFAC (PARAllel FACtor) tensor decomposition of the Volterra kernels of order higher than two of the classical Volterra model. The recursive stochastic algorithm ARGLS (Alternating RGLS) consists of the execution in an alternating way of the classical RGLS algorithm developed to identify the linear stochastic input-output models. The efficiency of the proposed identification approach is proved using Monte Carlo simulation on a nonlinear satellite channel.

Target re-identification approaches generally perform association between camera pairs only. However, in a multi-camera system many-to-one camera associations are needed when targets transit from multiple source-cameras to a destination-camera. To address this problem, we propose a person re-identification approach that generates camera-invariant object matching scores, which are based on re-identification score variations in multiple camera pairs. Each camera pair is represented with two parametric distribution models obtained by curve fitting on intra-class and inter-class target matching scores. These two models are combined to generate the likelihood of a correct match between a new target in the destination-camera and those in all source-cameras. We show the improvement in the performance of the proposed re-identification approach compared to existing pairwise approaches on two publicly available datasets.

Many industrial chemical processes involve exothermic (heat generating) reactions whose temperature needs to be controlled for safe operation of the process. If there is any irregularity in coolant flow, the reactant temperature becomes difficult to control. Reaction continues under unsafe condition till all the reactants finish which may lead to hazardous reaction. Dicumyl peroxide reaction is one such process, where the amount of heat generated is high, which may cause thermal explosion and runaway reaction to occur when the heat liberated is not compensated by the jacket coolant temperature or due to contaminants present in the reactor. The present work comprises identification of the process dynamics by nonlinear ARX model and estimation of internal states of the process reaction using estimators like Kalman Filter (KF), Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and Unscented Kalman Filters (UKF). Results of these estimators are compared and suitable estimator which provides least mismatch between plant and model will be applied to design the control law for efficient control.

In this work we present some of our successes in combining MATLAB #x00AE; -based simulation methods with Telecommunications Instructional Modeling (Emona-TIMS TM ) experimental methods to enhance student learning in a senior-level communications systems laboratory. While faculty have discussed the relative merits of simulation versus real experimentation in recent years, we find that combining these approaches has multiple advantages: (1) A TIMS TM based approach (where we have chosen to use #x201C;real-world #x201D; demodulated audio from local radio stations as the local message signal) makes students feel that they are engaged in #x201C;real-world modulation/demodulation; #x201D; (2) The TIMS TM based approach inherently reinforces a #x201C;concept map #x201D; (block diagram) view of communications modulation and demodulation; (3) The MATLAB #x00AE; simulation approach forces students to think about how to perform a proper simulation (e.g. set appropriate sampling rate, set appropriate specifications for digital filter design for envelope detector or discriminator, etc.) for both analog and digital simulation; and (4) The MATLAB #x00AE; simulation approach sets a starting point for our students as they pursue software defined radio (SDR) communications applications in some of their senior design projects. We find synergy in combining the two pedagogical approaches in most of the labs in our communications systems course, and this typically results in enhanced student comprehension. While more formal assessment will be conducted over the next two years, at this point we know from course feedback that students very much appreciate both learning tools. Students commonly remark that the TIMS TM really highlights the #x201C;big picture, #x201D; and helps them understand what to expect before they start the MATLAB #x00AE; simulations, while coding up the MATLAB #x00AE; simulations gets them #x201C;into the weeds, #x201D; and gives them the tools to test out ideas that support their senior projects.

In this paper, issues a novel Flip-chip (FC) package model simulation of THz on a chip integrated antenna. Log periodic antenna is designed on a GaAs substrate, with a thickness of 100 #x03BC;m. An air bridge of Schottky Diode located at the center of the antenna is protected by using thin-film ceramic layer for supporting layer. About 200 #x03BC;m diameter Au pad on GaAs substrate is connected to the PCB board via thin-film ceramic layer. There is an air chamber underneath the antenna to improve antenna performance and mitigate multilayer structure influence the near filed of antenna. The FC package mode cause simulation results performance to deteriorate. Nevertheless, good performance has been obtained up to around 0.25-0.34 THz ( #x03BB;=1200 #x03BC;m-880 #x03BC;m). Thus, FC processing with thin-film ceramic layer has been proven to be one solution for THz region antenna package. Which can give simplicity and possibility of designing large format arrays on a direct detection or heterodyne detection THz system.

Developing tracers for MPI and related applications requires a thorough understanding of underlying relaxation processes. In X-Space MPI reconstruction, relaxation has a profound impact on the image through a decrease in SNR and direction-dependent blurring. To probe the relaxation of potential MPI tracers, Goodwill et al., have developed an X-Space Relaxometer that measures the MPI point spread function and accurately predicts image quality.[1,2] The present work introduces a new relaxometer with improved eddy current shielding to achieve a significant gain in sensitivity. A simulation of the enhanced shielding has shown to attenuate external interference by more than 40dB in the detection bandwidth.

Economic indicator in Indonesia are GDP (Gross Domestic Product), GNI (Gross National Income), inflation, export and import. These data had been chosen because economic that came from words 'ecos' and 'nomos' consist of value of life which are implemented in them. Based on that reason, it cannot be avoided that chaos and complex will emerge during measure the economic condition. In order to monitor Indonesia's economic, system that predict each of economic indicator had been developed. This concept tried to answer the chaos and complex in real-problem. System did not measure only one indicator independently, instead of involve all of indicators while predict it. So that, non-linear differential dynamic had been used to face this issued. Furthermore, system would predict as time series and optimized using genetic algorithm. By setting parameter probability mutation and probability cross over, this research got accuracy around 30% - 80%. The range of accuracy proved that the system able enough to fit data in finding historical pattern even had to face with chaos and complex. Distribution data and non-linear differential equation are caused of chaos and complex respectively.

This paper presents some results of our ongoing research on the dynamic performance of the Vietnam power system. The study involves simulations of N-1 events in the 500-220kV transmission system, especially the loss of an 500kV circuit, which in reality has caused a large scale blackout in the Southern grid of Vietnam, in May 2013. The simulations reveal some interesting results, regarding the operation of transmission line and generators protection systems. The sequence of relay operation can change the course of a large scale event drastically. The results provide us with new insight to revise relay settings that helps reduce the risk of cascade tripping.

The ST36 (Zusanli) acupuncture point is used to treat inflammatory processes, pain and gastrointestinal disturbs. For this reason, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the antinociceptive effect of Low-level Laser Treatment (LLLT) on ST36 acupoint using models of chronic nociception and inflammation. Male Swiss mice were treated with LLLT on ST36 30 minutes before the mechanical allodynia (von Frey) performed on the partial sciatic nerve ligation (PSNL) method and Complete Freund's Adjuvant (CFA). The results demonstrated that application of LLLT on ST36 inhibited the mechanical allodynia response induced by PSNL and CFA, with total reversion at 30 minutes after application. Long-term treatment of animals with LLLT on the same acupoint, once a day, also reduced the PNSL and CFA-induced mechanical allodynia response during 8 days of treatment. As conclusion, the results demonstrated that photonic stimulus on ST36 with LLLT produces antinociceptive effect in chronic models of nociception and inflammation. These findings suggest that LLLT may constitute an important therapeutic alternative to control chronic pain.

Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) aims to find two non-negative matrices whose product approximates the original matrix well, and is widely used in clustering condition with good physical interpretability and universal applicability. Detecting communities with NMF can keep non-negative network physical definition and effectively capture communities-based structure in the low dimensional data space. However some NMF methods in community detection did not concern with more network inner structures or existing ground-truth community information. In this paper, we propose a novel pairwisely constrained non-negative symmetric matrix factorization (PCSNMF) method, which not only consider symmetric community structures of undirected network, but also takes into consideration the pairwise constraints generated from some ground-truth group information to enhance the community detection. We compare our approaches with other NMF-based methods in three social networks, and experimental results for community detection show that our approaches are all feasible and achieve better community detection results.

This paper presents the technical and economical merits of using low losses fast switching Silicon Carbide (SiC) accumulated gate field effect transistor (ACCUFET) switches in comparison with a Hybrid module of Silicon (Si) IGBT with anti-parallel schottky barrier diode (SBD) in DC/DC converter applications of the Nissan Leaf electric vehicle (EV) motor drive. The performance of the car, at steady state conditions, is studied at different temperatures. The power losses, current, voltage, torque and speed results are given. The results showed lower total switching power losses with the SiC ACCUFET. This reduction in losses was recorded at different switching frequencies in comparison to the hybrid switch. The fast switching of SiC Trench ACCUFET reduces current-voltage cross-over losses and enables high frequency operation thus achieving high record efficiency. The high frequency operation will result in a smaller foot print of the converter together with a weight reduction; thus making the car lighter. It is expected that a lighter car will result in a longer range Nissan Leaf with the same battery. Increasing the car mileage of the battery and lowering the cost of magnetic components in the EV will surpass the higher cost of the SiC ACCUFET from an economical point of view.

Law enforcement agencies around the world use biometrics and fingerprints to solve and fight crime. Forensic experts are needed to record fingermarks at crime scenes and to ensure those captured are of evidential value. This process needs to be automated and streamlined as much as possible to improve efficiency and reduce workload. It has previously been demonstrated that is possible to estimate a fingermark's evidential value automatically for image captures taken with a mobile phone or other devices, such as a scanner or a high-quality camera. Here we study the relationship between a fingermark being of evidential value and its correct and certain identification and if it is possible to achieve identification despite the mark not having sufficient evidential value. Subsequently, we also investigate the influence the capture device used makes and if a mobile phone is a considerable option. Our results show that automatic identification is possible for 126 of the 1,428 fingermarks captured by a mobile phone, of which 116 were marked as having evidential value by experts and 123 by an automated algorithm.

In the present work, we have irradiated p-type CZ-silicon at two different neutron fluences, 1.98 #x00D7;10 18 and 3.96 #x00D7;10 18 n/cm 2 . The optical properties and irradiation damage have been investigated using Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and UV-VIS spectrophotometer technique at room temperature. The results show that the density of the vacancy-oxygen complex VO center (830 cm -1 ) increases with increasing neutron fluence. Further, the creation of the divacancy defect (1.8 #x03BC;m) concentration and the near edge absorption was formed after irradiation. The results from annealing indicate that near-edge absorption, VO defects disappear at 550 #x00B0;C. However, another band around 825 cm -1 was formed at the same temperature. The near-edge absorption and the band of 1.8 #x03BC;m have not been detected at 550 #x00B0;C, and new bands near 1.4 and 1.7 #x03BC;m appeared. It is reasonable to assume that the two bands may be due to the divacancy consisting one or more lithium impurity atoms. The existence of these bands confirms that the transmutation of the boron to the lithium atoms can be attained in the neutron fluences available at the reactor Es Salem. It was concluded that the cluster defects induced by the neutron irradiation can be attributed to the vacancy-rich region which reordered after annealing treatment.

Volterra models can be used to represent a nonlinear systems with vanishing memory. The main drawback of these models is their huge number of parameters to be estimated. To reduce this parametric complexity, we can consider Volterra kernels of order (p gt; 2) as symmetric tensors and we use a parallel factor (PARAFAC) decomposition of the kernels to derive Volterra-PARAFAC models. In this paper, we present partial update LMS algorithms for identifying nonlinear third-order Volterra-PARAFAC models. Two partial update adaptive LMS algorithms are proposed when input-output signals are real-valued: periodic and sequential partial update version of the LMS. Some simulation results illustrate the proposed identification methods.
