first, i¡¯m going to introduce what the meditation is, and then i¡¯m going to give you a chance to flavor it by practicing a little bit.
let me start by looking at the definition of the meditation. when you heard the word ¡®meditation¡¯, you might come up with a yoga center by your home or at the gym
also, a posture imitating an animal¡¯s pose might cross your mind. yes, it will be a part of it
moreover, you might remember a researcher¡¯s result arguing that a meditation is beneficial to your health or it provides you a peaceful mind. these could be one part of meditation
ne possible result of meditation, but it has nothing to do with what the meditation is, or why do we need to do it. in my definition, if you ask me what the meditation is, i¡¯m going to say the meditation is to stare at ourselves inside, try to understand us deeply, or any kind of processes to probe ourselves
moreover, this practice is so demanding that some represent the meditation is a battle or war against us. this is a different part of meditation
then you might ask to me why we need to do that. then my first answer is that we don¡¯t need to do that in your ordinary life
but my second answer is this. when we are tired of our ordinary life, when we are bored of us or because of something that we cannot understand, we might need to take a rest, or need a pause between an ordinary life
i think that is the moment when the meditation break in your life.
uestions as the philosophers do. after they ask questions, they are finding an answer by reasoning
however, the meditation is looking for our deep inside by practicing the meditation. put differently, according to a renowned buddhist, dalai lama, he defined the buddhism as ¡®a science of mind¡¯ instead of saying a belief or religions
i like to use the word science. if i borrow his expression regarding buddhism to the meditation, i¡¯m going to say the meditation is an additional way to probe us as a science of mind
i think this could be enough for understanding the meditation.
let¡¯s move to a fun part.i think just practicing a little bit could give you a better understanding of meditation.i¡¯m going to introduce the simple and handy meditation to you.however, it would be very tough to practice if you want to do seriously.what i¡¯m going to do is to count the numbers from 1 to 10.what you are going to do is to close your eyes firstly.but if you don¡¯t want to close your eyes, just let your eyes open.it doesn¡¯t matter.what you are going to do is not to think while i¡¯m counting the numbers.when it comes to thinking, if you come up with an image or sound, or if you do anything intentionally and are aware of it, we regard it as thinking.let¡¯s play for fun.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.open your eyes.i¡¯m not going to ask you if you thought while i was counting.
