1.personal history and educational background
germane to the personal backdrop of mine, i can state i has been reared in seoul metropolitan city since 1982 when my birth came into being in the korean peninsula.from the infancy stage to younger puberty one, i had been significantly influenced by my mothers life philosophy which was the epitomized example of cold war era: she was and is still exceedingly against communism ideology.hence, every possible nook and cranny of my early existence had been gradually infiltrated by this sort of ideologically-dichotomized mindset: unconditional vetoing of communist mentality vis-a-vis many unquestioning tolerances about non-communist one.i think this kind of cold-war mindset had been colossally shared by the generation of my mothers during the 1980s.politically speaking, that was a juggernaut zeitgeist in the south korea at those upheaval times.another circumstance to which i had been exposed as a growing influence of mine: my fathers involvement in vietnam war roughly four decades ago.through mandatory conscription executed by military junta-specifically mentioning, administered by the untimely deceased president park chung-hee, my father had no any other choice but to be enrolled and take part in the brutal bloodshed at indochina peninsula.discharged from the saigon-based korean army at south vietnam, ultimately my father returned to the homeland.but several months after arriving back, he had many pathological problems: insomnia, mental instability and intensely emotional depression.then he was diagnosed with the de facto ptsd(post traumatic stress disorder) condition at local veterans hospital; verbatim, it was post-war trauma symptom.in the wake of these irreversible agents running in my family, i have grown intrinsically-motivated about the war and my interest has been reinforced by the study of american war novels during the undergraduate and graduate course.these unique calibers of family circumstances, furthermore, had put me even greater spurs to studying vietnam war and decolonized culture, regional conflict.thus i had proceeded to the american war literature study at hankuk university of foreign studies in 2007.focal axis of my graduate study is to delve deeper into vietnam war novels written by one hypercritical american war writer-tim obrien.for now, along with the degree thesis of my own, i have completely finished the regular four-semester graduate course.
2.extra curricular activities and community services
regarding the extracurricular activities, i would be able to mention that in the field of human right, i have constructed several careers for the past four years.let me elaborate on this extracurricular activity.i have participated in several rounds of exhibitions in seoul-located university campuses such as hankuk university of foreign studies, kyunghee university and university of seoul.these exhibitions are very much related to the universal human rights which are inalienable rights for the essential human dignity.this exhibition project has been organized and conducted by some universitys students and graduate school students on a collaborative-driven base.as for me, since the beginning of graduate school study, the volume of interest towards many international issues has been more intense than ever.while searching for this unquenchable curiosity about contemporary international issues, i encountered into some public advertisements presided by graduate school of ngo at kyunghee university.i became so fascinated by the advertisement that i applied for the volunteer job.later i had a priceless opportunity to act as a docent at human right exhibition for 4 years: from the june in 2007 until the second quarter of 2011.these exhibitions had dealt with a majority of issues: namely, the threat of nuclear weapon, boy soldier problem in east africa and gender problems in war-stricken afghanistan.at many university campuses, this four-year-term exhibition had appealed to the audience of many university students about the atrocious aspects of wrongdoing triggered by wars.this volunteer experience as a docent in human right exhibition was such a rewarding and fulfilling involvement that it had to the fullest broaden my demarcated horizon and provided a ground-breaking infrastructure for studying various issues of international conflict.
3.life philosophy

my personal life philosophy is that all concerned parties are interconnected and correlated to each other. since the very advent of prehistoric times, this mechanism has been consistently applied to the universe as well as it has formulated an inextricable relationship to all relevant parties on a reciprocal basis

this is the bottom line which i have had as the life philosophy of mine. in brief, one element has a huge ripple-effect to another component

thus, in a microscopic view, every constituent has to be profoundly respected with appropriate dignity. not any single social and economic spectrum can be impervious to other element; which is like at once knee-jerk reaction and oneness of chain reaction system

take historical examples about this: the decoloized process in the african continent and decommunizational procedure in the eastern europe during 1960s through 1980s. to turn the historical clock to contemporary one, the previous year-year 2011-have starkly witnessed the arab spring at some nations in gulf countries area

i think these are the decent apotheoses that reflect upon my personally-contained life philosophy. for me this symbiosis view implies such a latent meaning that we should not abandon the underdeveloped nations only because of economic outcast

furthermore, this is the most obvious reason we have to help under-privileged people-societal underdog-in developing countries with various oda(official development aid) programs, particularly, to the black continent; africa. every vested interest should maintain noblesse oblige and help them swim with much political correctness in the vast ocean of the world

in short, the bottom line that i maintain as life philosophy is that raison detre-reason of being-among all living things is based on the infrastructure of coexistence; symbiosis. to the contrary context, in a political spectrum, the poison of dictatorship-strongmanship-can drastically demolish the coexistence system in a world-scale

thus i am exceedingly against those despotical and autocratical rules, otherwise, every polity-fundamental bedrock for symbiosis-could be potentially subjected to devastation process itself.
4.future goals

on condition that i obtained an esteemed chance to conduct academic studies at the underwood international college, above all, i would closely examine on the u. s

diplomatic policy towards the east asia during the cold-war period. in particular, i have a purposeful plan to research the indochina region conflicts from 1960s until 1970s

as i mentioned above, my family backdrop have set many spurs to me studying both the international conflict and ethnic violence around the east asia. universally admittedly, during the ideological tug-of-war epoch; the cold war, the east asia region had been economic and political scapegoat, then korean peninsula had been once reduced to one of ideological pariah nations: separation of north korea and south korea

about this, since younger puberty age, i have been well-cognizant of these repercussions within my family. grounded on the gut-wrenchingly painful historical lesson from the cold war and hard-power-clash vietnam war, i am firmly determined to be one nucleus for the settlement of permanent peace in east asia areas   (ÀÌÇÏ »ý·«)
