Recently, The necessity of education program for disabled parents counseling their peer groups has been brought up due to the implementation of the Act on Support and developmental disability rights guarantee. The purpose of this research is hence to present proposals for improvements of the education program for the disabled parents peer group counseling after careful analysis of the effectiveness of the training program.The research methods used in this paper is to conduct survey and interview. 95 students who were in their first year out of three year counselor certificate program at universities in cities like Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Daejeon and Daegu and 80 disabled parents with no training background were selected for the survey. 11 students from training program were selected from each city and they performed intensive interview(FGI) to analyze the difference between two groups and the effectiveness of the peer group counseling education program.The research results show statistically significant differences between two groups; the educated group showed more positive meaning in terms of identity of disabled parents, self-effectiveness, self-worth, changes of personal relationships and stress than noneducated group. Therefore, I propose the revitalization of Peer Counseling Training for Disabled Parents and the future plans to support the substantial consultation activities.

This study has for its object to develop a counseling education program that will be used to guide primary grade officers in their efforts to help the adaptation of soldiers to the military life. Especially the development of the program was based on the experience a group of non-military specialists had in a military camp while they were training professional counselors and officers.The real on-camp training was proceeded three times and, for each time, ten 4-hour sessions were conducted, the total education time summing up 120 hours. The trainees were 58 civilians, most of them being professional counselors or heads of counseling institutions, or university professors related in counseling, and 106 primary grade officers.It would be necessary to try to do more field studies and get the feedback from the military officers in order to improve the proposed education program.

In this essay, I try to inquire the difference between philosophical counseling and psychological counseling from essential perspectives not from one of some phenomenal characteristics. Against the hasty assumption that we should focus on peculiar aspects of philosophical counseling because psychological counseling is already established while philosophical counseling is in an initial stage, I pursue the possible common ground of philosophical counseling with psychological counseling with critical examinations on psychological counseling. For these, in section two, I analyze the usages of some related words, counseling, psychological counseling and psychotherapy among psychologists. Most psychologists such as Nystul and Chang Ho Lee interchangeably use these while Sung Hee Park regards counseling as an independent and open meta-procedural language. Counselling may involve philosophical counseling in the latter while it may not in the former. In section three, based on Peter Raabe's analysis, I identify philosophical counseling and seek for its ideal relationship with psychotherapy. According to him, most endeavors to emphasize the difference between them are exaggerated, and the crucial difference is that philosophical counselors help counselees think philosophically. Doing philosophy is what identifies philosophical counseling, and philosophical counseling is primarily a species of a genus, philosophical practice. Philosophical counseling may, of course, be seen as a kind of counseling, but we should be careful to approach to the matter of its identity and relationship with counseling because hasty identification without a clear elucidation on them may cause a serious misunderstanding.

The purpose of this study was to delve into family counseling in a bid to help prevent family disorganization. Since the financial crisis of the nation called for an aid from IMF, a lot of families have broken up or been wracked by many problems. They should be helped to replace despair with hope, to recover their mental stability and to wake up to the worth of family. There should be smooth communication in a family. In modern society, however, the hectic lives of modern people take themselves away from spending enough time talking to their families, and family members might easily give an irrecoverable hurt to one another. It's not always possible for them to live up to expectations as a member of a family, which results in giving one another a hard time. There should be an ideal and sound relationship among family members. They should keep talking to one another with affection, share mutual difficulties, and beef up their family resilience not to let any possible problems take place. In order to prevent family disorganization, counseling centers and free legal information centers should be established to offer family counseling, and parent education and health education should be reinforced. What family-related problems are widespread in society should accurately be grasped to come up with effective counseling methods to assist every family member to grow into eligible and healthy members of society. An extensive family backing project should be promoted to provide counseling for different families to pinpoint and tide over their difficulties. Besides, full-fledged social welfare service should be offered at a national level to improve their social adjustability. When it comes to projects geared toward single-parent families, adolescents who drop out of school and who are addicted to drug should be helped to benefit from psychotherapy, and rehabilitation programs should be provided for families with disabled people to concentrate their attention on societal activities. Geriatric hospitals and dementia treatment centers should be built to offer a helping hand to families who take care of elderly people with dementia. Thus, a wide variety of family supports should be prepared to lend assistance to beleaguered families. In the event of families with people in need of protective care, healing centers should be constructed to help facilitate their social rehabilitation. Every family should be given every possible mental and material support to lead a healthier and better life, and the government should try to improve the lives of married couples and their children so that they could find their reality more satisfactory and seek after self-actualization. In our region, a family welfare center must be prepared to offer a helping hand to every family, and a healthy family center must be built as well to convert wretched families into healthy ones. More intensive efforts should be directed into boosting family welfare to assist each family to lead a future-oriented life.

The purposes of this study were to observe the expectation about counseling for the elderly, to analyze the relationship between experience and desire for counseling and expectation about counseling, and to suggest the ways for improving the areas of counseling for the elderly. The subject of this study was elderly people who are the users of senior welfare centers in Seoul metropolitan area. A total of 21 elderly welfare centers were agreed to participate in this study and a total of 467 elderly people were selected by purposive sampling method among the users of senior welfare centers. Data were collected by trained social work master student from August, 2008 to September, 2008. Results showed that experience and desire for the counseling of the elderly were relatively high and the elderly people were to prefer the office based and individual based counseling. The areas of counseling were health and finding a job. Expectation about counseling was appeared relatively high and factors affecting expectation about counseling were experience of counseling, desire for counseling, and living arrangement. Further discussions for improving counseling for the elderly were provided.

This study was intended to investigate whether kindergarten teachers had shown a change in recognition for child counseling. Subjects were the 28 kindergarten teachers in Chungchong area (12 and 16 for experimental and control group, respectively). The instruments were Satisfaction with Life Scale, Self-Esteem Scale, the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and the questionnaire for child counseling recognition. The educational program for child counseling held 6 sessions for 2 days. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS PC program (version 18.0) for frequency, percent, and Cronbach¡¯s ¥á for reliability. The results were as follows: First, kindergarten teachers¡¯ recognition for child counseling in attendance group was changed negatively after attending the educational program and the non-attendance group teachers showed more positive viewpoint for child counseling than the attendance. Second, the attendance group teachers expressed more positive educational intention for problem child after attending the educational program than the non-attendance. Third, the attendance group teachers reported the increases of counseling knowledge, and openness and confidence for counseling, compared with the non-attendance. Last, the attendance group teachers¡¯ level of life satisfaction and self-esteem was increased after attending the educational program, and they obtained higher scores than the non-attendance.

In the situation of aged society, Christian churches need to execute pastoral counseling for the aged and their families. However, going beyond quantitative and material approaches to elderly problems, the church should be able to present new elderly counseling programs and pastoral visions. It is because aging is one of the most important issues not only to the country and society but also to Korean Churches and it should be solved with active alternatives.The growing population of adults over the age of 65 continues to outstrip our provision of services. Pastoral theology for the aged approach in the field of counseling and gain strength in various field. But there in no official report this applied in elderly counseling. This thesis endeavored to apply Pastoral theology for the aged approach to the elderly.Pastoral elderly program operators should carry out ministry in the ways of forming friendliness with elders, understanding their mind, and embracing them. Moreover, elders should be treated with knowledge and insight, and respected as whole persons rather than as beneficiaries of education or welfare. In this way, the churches should imbue elders with life and power so that they can lead their own life in a new spirit as creative and organic contributors.

Korea is among the countries that undergoes the most rapid and radical changes of information revolution in the world. The military is a special society that is relatively separated from other societies but it cannot be completely free from their influences. For the military to prevent soldiers from the negative social impacts and secure their mental healthy for keeping the strong army, it is necessary to make the best use of the existing military counseling system and to make supplement and improve its problems.The purpose of the paper is to suggest a proper model for military counseling. The paper is in progress as follows. Chapter two and three examine the identity and object of military counseling, and point out that we have to abandon the short-term counseling approach from the administrative point of view. Chapter four deals critically the short-term behavioral model. Chapter five suggests the telos-based model as an appropriate model of military counseling and reports a case of applying the model.
