This study examines patterns
in the generation and transmission of storiesbased on the story of partisan Park Mak?dong who acted in the Yeonggwangarea during the Korean War. The Korean War disrupted many people¡¯severydayness. This incident became a source of people¡¯s various experiences. In the process, some persons were captured in people¡¯s experiences andbecame stories, and some of such stories went beyond a simple daily discourseand acquired literary figuration. Partisan Park Mak?dong, who acted in theYeonggwang area during the Korean War, remained in many local residents¡¯memory and acquired legendary figuration exceeding the level of dailydiscourse. Given the local residents¡¯ common experience of the Korean War,Park Mak?dong showed an image distinguished from that of many others whoworked as policemen representing state power or as leftists. While the groupswho held power during the Korean War used the power in order to vent theirprivate emotions, Park Mak?dong showed a different character. Even he triedto protect local residents from the violence of state power. As this feature ofPark Mak?dong was captured by local residents, primary and secondaryexperiences were formed. Then, the experiences were aggrandized, andcombined with the narrative grammar of legends specific characteristics were reproduced in an expanded form. In particular, Park Mak?dong¡¯s story partlyshows the structure of hero tales such as the Baby Warrior legend, Kim Deokryeong¡¯stale, and Shin Dol?seok¡¯s story. Through this, how a daily discourseis transformed into a literary narrative was examined in this study. Nevertheless, the process of the expanded reproduction of Park Mak?dong¡¯s story was blockedby peculiar ideological factors of the area including the disappearance of storytellingstages and the development of mass media. Moreover, it was pointedout that the future would not be favorable for the transmission of Park Makdong¡¯sstory because of its ideological limitation.   (ÀÌÇÏ »ý·«)
