한국교회의 성장 속도는 1980년대까지만 해도 세계교회
를 경악시킬 만큼 놀라운 것이었다. 그러나 1990년대로 들어서면서 갑자기 성장 둔화현상이 나타나기 시작하였고, 2005년 이후부터는 마이너스 성장을 보이고 있다. 그래서 교회는 계속적으로 성장해야 한다는 당위성에 근거하여 성장둔화 현상에 대한 대책이 요구된다. 그렇다면 과연 성장둔화 현상의 원인은 무엇이고, 그 대책은 무엇인가? 이 질문에 대한 해답을 찾고자 하는 것이 본 논문의 논지이다.
우선, 한국교회의 성장 둔화현상에 관한 원인을 분
석하고 그 대책을 세우는데 있어서 지상교회의 존재이유와 지상교회의 본질과 본질적 사명을 근거로 하여 문제 해결책을 제시하고자 하는 것이다.
논자는 한국교회의 성장 둔화 현상의 원인으로 교회
의 내적 요인들과 교회의 대 사회적 요인들로 나누어서 고찰하였다. 교회의 내적 요인들로는 교회의 정체성 약화 내지는 상실, 개 교회주의의 팽배 그리고 소명의식 결여와 훈련 부족 등으로 보았고, 교회의 대 사회적 요인들로는 예언자적 역할 외면, 목회자와 성도들의 윤리성 결여 그리고 선교열정 냉각과 선교정책 부재 등으로 규정 하였다.
그리고 제기한 문제의 원인들을 해결하기 위한 대책
과 대안으로 지상교회의 존재 이유와 지상교회의 본질과 본질적 사명을 근거로 하여 대안들을 제시하였다. 우선 지상교회를 세상을 구원하시려는 하나님의 유일한 뜻에 따라 세상에서 부름 받은 하나님의 백성인 동시에 하나님의 동일한 뜻에 의해 세상으로 다시 보냄 받은 그리스도의 제자로서 증인 공동체로 그 개념을 정리하였고, 이러한 존재 이유에 걸 맞는 사명 감당을 위한 지상교회의 본질적 사명을 찾기 위해 지상교회의 본질을 삼위일체론 적으로 정리하였다. 즉 “교회를 하나님의 선택에 의해 세상으로부터(the World) 불러내어져(하나님의 선택에 의해 부름 받은 공동체), 예수 그리스도 안에서(in Jesus Christ) 성장한(훈련받은) 후(그리스도 안에 있는 공동체), 다시 세상으로(into the World) 파송되어지는 공동체”라는 정의에 근거하여 한국교회의 성장둔화 현상에 대한 대책들을 구체적으로 제시하였다.
첫째, 지상교회를 “하나님의 선택에 의해 세상으로부터
(the World) 불러내어져, 하나님의 백성”이라는 지상교회의 정체성을 인식할 수 있다면, 하나님의 백성으로서의 정체성과 정체성에 합당한 삶이 가능해질 것이다. 이와 같은 자세와 삶은 분명히 한국교회의 성장둔화현상 요인가운데 교회의 정체성 약화 내지는 상실 문제와 교회의 외적 요인들 가운데 예언자적 역할 외면의 문제를 해결할 수 있다는 사실을 확인하게 되었다.
둘째, 지상교회를 “예수 그리스도 안에서(in Jes
us Christ) 성장한(훈련받은), 그리스도 안에 있는 공동체”라는 사실을 인식할 때, 지상에 있는 모든 교회가 유기적 단일체라는 사실을 삶으로 인정할 때, 한국교회의 성장둔화현상 요인가운데 개교회주의의 팽배 문제와 교회의 외적 요인들 가운데 목회자와 성도의 윤리성 결여 문제를 해결할 수 있다는 사실을 확인하게 되었다.
셋째, 지상교회를 “다시 세상으로(into the W
orld) 파송되어지는 공동체”라는 정체성을 인정할 때, 내어 보내기 위하여 훈련시키지 않을 수 없으며, 지상교회가 감당해야 할 구원을 적용하는 수단으로서 선교의 열정을 고취하는 것은 물론이요, 선교 정책도 구체적으로 세우지 않을 수 없을 것이다. 이렇게 되면, 자연스럽게 한국교회의 성장둔화현상 요인가운데 소명의식 결여와 훈련부족 문제와 교회의 외적 요인들 가운데 선교열정 냉각과 선교정책 부재 문제를 해결할 수 있다는 사실을 확인하게 되었다
지상교회의 정체성을 확립하고, 교회의 본질과 사명
에 근거하여 “개혁 교회는 계속해서 개혁되어져야 한다.”는 명제와 같이 한국교회가 계속해서 개혁을 추구할 때, 성장둔화현상은 극복되고 세계교회를 놀라게 했던 과거의 놀라운 성장 모습을 회복하게 될 것이다.

where the countermeasure it analyzes the cause regarding the growth blunting actual condition of the Korean church and it builds and from the existence reason of the ground church and the essence and an essential mission of the ground church about under to present to do a problematic solution based on to sleep it is. The debater with cause of growth blunting actual condition of the Korean church divided with the inner problems of the church and the unit social problems of the church it investigated.

with the intention which the God is identical in the same time when is a people of the God who the ground church under rescuing coldly according to the intention which the God is only calling from the world, receives sending the world with the world again, as Christ\'s disciples whom receives will arrange the concept as the witness community, will hang the essence of the ground church with the Trinity theory enemy in order essential mission of the ground church for the mission competence which hits searching arranged in like this existence reason.
